Nakisa (Persian: نکیسا) Arabicized pronunciation of the word Nagisa (نگیسا). Both names originate from the Persian word Negin (meaning "jewel"). Nakisa was the court musician of the Sassanids. The main themes of her songs were in praise of king Khosrau II. She collaborated with Barbad on her famous septet piece the Royal Khosravani (سرود خسروانی). She was also a master harp player in the Royal Persian Court and composed the national anthem of the time.
