Biography[edit]

Nam Hyun-joon, also known as "Poppin Hyun Joon" is famous for his smooth "popping & locking" ticking, animation, and many other dance moves. He is one of the most famous poppers in the world bboy/breakdance leagues. He has gained considerable notice in Japan, where, in a poll taken by Japanese celebrities, he came in first place as the most well known foreigner.[citation needed] In an American poll, he came in fifth place in terms of knowledge of his dancing prowess by American dancers.[citation needed] Because of Poppin Hyun Joon's abilities, he often works training stars and choreographing dance routines for them. He has been in several dance groups, including Cyborg G, FREEZE and Newest35. Hyun-joon is known for his variety of Popping, and Tutting of body parts.

Hyun-joon is married to Korean Folk (Pansori) singer, Park Aeri.[2]

Fame[edit]

After the disbanding of Young Turks Club, Popping Hyun Joon decided to go into professional dancing. His skill and smooth moves gained recognition from many Korean celebrities such as V.O.S's Choi Hyun-joon. He was heavily influenced by the dance group Seo Taiji and Boys. Lee Juno from this group taught Joon and featured him in Juno's music video Amen.

In 2005 Joon released a song, titled Sajahoo (Korean for 'Lion's Roar'). He steadily gained popularity in Korea and performed at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He is currently in a dance group called Nam Hyun-joon and Kids, which plays on the name of Seo Taiji and Boys.

Nam Hyun-joon has released a hip hop album in 2007, One and Only, with a music video of the song Don't Stop.
