The Natural Capital Institute (NCI) is a non-profit non-governmental organization based in Sausalito, CA. It was founded by the environmentalist, entrepreneur, journalist, and author Paul Hawken. [1]

- Created a database of NPO and NGOs working for clean water and sanitization. Created a database of organizations which directly address this issue.
- Pulished a report which analyzed socially responsible investing (SRI). This report analyzed over 600 retail mutual funds.
- Created the public-education website responsibility.inverting.org [2], which is a database of socially responsible investing funds and what screening processes those funds use.

NCI has created a community driven website WiserEarth in 2007. WISER stands for "World Index of Social and Environmental Responsibility". WiserEarth is an open source directory of the world's environmental and social justice NPO and NGO's.
