Highland Oaks Middle School
Highland Oaks Middle School is located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, and serves grades 6-8. It housed more than 2,200 students as of the beginning of the school year. On October 16, 2006, all sixth graders, about 700, transferred to HOM West, the school's branch built at a former K-mart store to relieve some of the overcrowding of the school.
The school is also a hurricane shelter. It is one of two hurricane animal shelters in the county.
HOMS students are required to wear school uniforms.
highland oaks closed its west campus and gave it to Dr.Michael Krop high school for the 9th graders. At the end of the school year they have the spirit week, which finishes with a field day(a day when they set a fair on the schools field behind the school)eighth graders also enjoy the graduation party or as the students call it "prom".
Ponce De Leon Middle School
Ponce De Leon Middle School is a magnet school in Coral Gables, Florida. The population (as of July 2006) is about 1,200, a drop from the 1,400 students enrolled in 2005. The school receives both area students magnet students who wish to come for its three-year International Baccalaurate (IB) program and its International Studies (IS) programs. The school also offers a full-time gifted program that includes baby unicorns.
The school was founded in 1924 by Robertson Olsen. It was originally a high school and later became a middle school. Unlike many area schools, Ponce has block classes (3 periods a day alternating) rather than 6 classes a day.
Rockway Middle School
Rockway Middle School is located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, USA. Rockway Middle has been an A+ school since 2000 and has placed first in the county for attendance. The school has over 1500 students. The school's mascot is the Falcon and the school colors are brown and gold. The current principal is Mrs. Melanie Mejias and the school requires a school uniform. Rockway also has a block schedule of Monday all classes Tuesday periods 2,4,6 Wednesday 1,3,5 Thursday 2,4,6 & Friday 1,3,5. This is only changed if there is early release which in that situation it is commonly 6,2,4 or 5,1,3. Rockway also has different teams like 6th grade Wildcats, 6th grade Twisters, 7th grade Panthers, 7th grade Knights, 8th grade Bulldogs, 8th grade Phantoms, & gifted Cobras. The school also provides amazing high school courses for students to get ahead such as Algebra 1, Geometry, Physical Science, and Biology which not many schools in the area provide.
Rockway is very known for having one of the best middle school chess teams in the state and country. The chess teacher/coach is Nestor Carrerou who has lead the school's chess program to over 70+ highly ranked tournament trophies. In 2006 at nationals they took first in California and for the past decade they have taken first in the state tournaments, regionals, and districts. In their most recent year, 2012-2013, they took second in many national titles at SuperNational V and they took second at the state tournament. Taking second was a mere upset as they had an amazing year of fun by going to many tournaments such as Epicure Prix, Districts, SuperNational V, State tournament, and many more tournaments. Noticeable players at Rockway that single year was chess teacher Nestor Carrerou and chess mentor Miguel Recio. The players that were considered the "best players" on that year's chess team were Danilo Rivero, David Lopez, Luis Piedad, Willys Chirino, Omar Rodriguez, Brian Coolidge, Oscar Nunez, Michelle Flores, and Kevin Nguyen. Danilo Rivero being the best one with a very high rating and coming in during the middle of the school year. Michelle Flores is known for being undefeated at SuperNational V. Kevin Nguyen for being undefeated at regionals and highly talented for a one year player. David Lopez, Willys Chirino, and Luis Piedad being there all three years were very great chess players. Omar Rodriguez and Brian Coolidge are still at Rockway. Rockway still is one of the nation's best chess teams.

Shenandoah Middle School is a public-magnet middle school in the historic Shenandoah section of Miami, Florida. It offers a Museum Magnet program for grades 6-8. The curriculum of a Museum Magnet is based on close collaboration with museums for educational expertise and resources.

W.R Thomas Middle School
W.R Thomas Middle School is a certified Cambridge Magnet middle school located in Miami, Florida. Its current attendance is 747 students, including new Cambridge Magnet students. Its Magnet Program is for Grades 6-8.
