The Carderock Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, located in Potomac, Maryland, specializes in ship acoustics and stealth technology. Another area of focus is hydromechanics.
The David Taylor Model Basin is located in this facility. The facility also hosts a yearly math competition styled after MathCounts.

This facility was previously known as the David W. Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center. The Center was renamed "David Taylor Research Center (DTRC)" in 1987 and became the "Carderock Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center" in 1992.[1][dead link]
