[edit] ABIDING BY REGULATIONS

In New Jersey, the [Board of Public Utilities] http://state.nj.us/bpu/ and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection http://state.nj.us/dep/ set the rules for New Jersey American Water to follow. Those regulations are what help to ensure everyone is receiving high-quality water and waste water service at a fair price. All increases in service rates are directly related to the cost of providing water and/or waste water service and are subjected to a public review process and approval by the Board of Public Utilities.
