New Torpedos (a.k.a. The Torpedos) were an English band that at one time featured singer Phil Lewis, who is the singer of one of the two bands currently going by the name L.A. Guns, guitarist Rudy Rivera, bassist Dave Birch, and drummer Paul Edwards.

Background[edit]

Phil Lewis was in this band between the time he had been in the bands Girl and Torme. Dave Birch and Paul Edwards had previously been in the band 720. New Torpedos recorded a demo tape.

He was replaced by Andy Barnett (Visage, 720, Corey Hart, later of FM, ASaP, Barnstormers et al.). Later, Dave "Bucket" Colwell (another ex-720 member, later to Bad Company) joined the band.

In the Media[edit]

The band appeared on ECT[disambiguation needed] on 31 May 1985 in UK television with the singer Misty, guitarist Dave Colwell, guitarist Andy Barnett, bassist Dave Birch, and drummer Paul Edwards line-up.
