"New York, New York" is a song written and performed by American alt-country musician Ryan Adams. It appeared on his 2001 album Gold. The song's music video, showing Adams performing in front of the city's skyline, was filmed four days before the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center.
The song's lyrics mention several lower Manhattan geographic references, including the intersection of Avenue A and 10th Street, Houston Street, and Avenue B.
"New York, New York" earned Adams a Grammy Award nomination for Best Male Rock Vocal, and the single reached #53 in the UK charts in December 2001.[1]
In 2009, the song was included in The Guardian's "1000 Songs Everyone Must Hear".[2]
