Nematabad (Persian: نعمت اباد), also Romanized as Ne‘matābād; also known as Nemedab and Ni‘matābād,[3] is a village in, and the capital of, Meydan Chay Rural District of Basmenj District of Tabriz County, East Azerbaijan province, Iran.[4] The previous capital of the rural district was the village of Kond Rud.[5]

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 2,020 in 551 households, when it was in the Central District.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 2,276 people in 671 households.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 1,848 people in 618 households.[2]

In August 2021, the rural district and the city of Basmenj were separated from the district in the establishment of Basmenj District.[8]
