[edit] Recent History
Both Robert Hamburger's Real Ultimate Power website in March 2002 [1] and the inclusion of the meme in webcomic author Scott Kurtz's PvP in June 2002, in a strip titled Ninja vs. Pirate.[2] were early verifiable appearances.[improper synthesis?][original research?]
Ninjas and Pirates first appeared which allows members to join either the Ninja or Pirates and compete for control of the site every week. Other such competitive games also appeared that year, including PVNgame.com and a popular[original research?] viral Facebook application[3] with millions of users.[4]
Antarctic Press has produced a series of comics titled Pirates Vs. Ninjas which have a pirate crew taking on a ninja clan for the weapons of ancient gods. This was followed by a sequel called Up The Ante, plus an annual and several one-shot specials like Global Harming, Debate in 08, and Ghost Pirates Vs. Ghost Ninjas.
In 2007, Gamecock announced that they would be releasing Pirates Vs. Ninjas Dodgeball in 2008, an Xbox Live Arcade game pitting pirates vs ninja zombies (among other groups) against each other in western shoot out.[5]
[edit] Webcomic
In June 2008, a webcomic was started on the topic of Pirates Versus Ninjas, it can be found here.
