Nintendo Week is a weekly entertainment and news series that reports on the latest and upcoming video games and news concerning Nintendo platforms, including Wii, Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS. They also occasionally talk about current events and local weather in Nintendo games like The Mushroom Kingdom and Wuhu Island from the Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit Plus, and Pilotwings Resort Games. It premiered on September 14, 2009 as part of the launch of a redesigned Nintendo Channel. It is only available via the North American edition of the Nintendo Channel. The series has two hosts, known as Gary and Alison Whitney. In the series, Gary and Alison present new game releases, industry interviews, demonstrations, and previews. It is produced in the distribution center Nintendo Atlanta offices in Atlanta, GA. Originally can be seen on Mondays, but as of July 28, 2011, Nintendo Week can be seen every Thursday directly on the Nintendo Channel. On November 24, 2011, the show received a new set. On February 2, 2012, Alison Whitney confirmed that this was her last appearance on Nintendo Week. After Alison's departure, Nintendo Week fills in various guest co-host alongside Gary and Dark Gary for the week beginning February 16, 2012.

Gary

Gary is the main host of Nintendo Week. He has made a Flipnote animation called "The Sad Guitarist." He wears plaid clothes often, and is good at the archery mode in Wii Sports Resort. He lost to Alison in the Ultimate Host Showdown. He has an "evil twin brother" named Dark Gary. He and Alison have been through many things, even gaming college. It was revealed in one episode his favorite Nintendo 3DS game is Pilotwings Resort.

Dark Gary

Dark Gary is Gary's "evil" twin brother who lives in a roof tent. He is a parody of Dark Samus, introduced in episode 3 when Gary was fighting the Dark Samus boss in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. His catchphase is "Bro" and he loves kettle corn. He has a crush on Alison, and gets rid of Gary sometimes. He is constantly wearing black clothes. He has a fake soul patch, which he seems to be attached to- in one episode, he panics when he sees his future self has no soul patch. He also tweaked Gary's Flipnote animation and called it "The Sad Guitarist 2." He is also a Ninja Boss and is fluent in Japanese. Dark Gary loves to do bad things, such as popping balloons and stealing lollipops from babies, and can never stop from annoying people. Many times he tries to steal a game when Alison kicks him out of the house but she gets it back. Along with that, Dark Gary likes to steal Alison's lunch, according to some episodes. This attribute eventually became the theme for a downloadable microgame, which Alison developed herself, via the North American version of WarioWare D.I.Y.. Dark Gary's signature black, wool hat is the main prop in this microgame.

Alison

Alison was a co-host for Nintendo Week from September 14, 2009 to February 2, 2012. She simply called her own Flipnote animation "Alison's Flipnote." She really liked to tease Gary, like asking him if he was proud of his figure. She is the Ultimate Host Showdown Champion, thanks to tricking Gary into missing the final target in Wii Sports Resort. It was revealed in one episode her favorite Nintendo 3DS game is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Gary and Alison are best friends. As of February 2, 2012, she has left the show. Her exit was explained by saying she was an alien who had decided to go back to her homeworld. Her full name is Alison Whitney. She had starred in a number of movies such as Bacterium, Polycarp and Hooking Up prior to her stint on Nintendo Week.

Recurring characters

• Superintendent Runcible - the maintenance man for Allison and Gary's building. He lives in the basement, prefers "Old School" video games, and has an obsession with Marshmallows. He has a huge secret lab/warehouse/aircraft hangar where he teaches Gary to make them. Describes himself as "A Marshmallowtarian" in one episode, which annoys Zeus, who then promptly turns him into a Marshmallow
• Inspector Schwartz - a female police detective that shows up from time to time, and threatens to arrest people as part of her normal casual conversation ("Food this good should be illegal, I should arrest all of you!")
• Uncle Dave - Allison's uncle, a handyman who fixes up her home on occasion. Affable and outgoing, he's extremely condescending to Gary, though it's unclear if he actually dislikes him.
• Zeus - Lord of Olympus, king of the Greek gods, first appeared in the episode that introduced the video game Glory of Heracles, where he sent them to the underworld to retrieve his copy. Later showed up as a party guest and helped out in the kitchen.
• Acrobats - early episodes featured a team of acrobats who would act out scenes from video games in clever fashion. This was quickly dropped.
• Alison and Gary's friends - whenever there is a video game including 3 players or more, the group of friends will come over to play video games with Gary and Alison.
