Nordwind Airlines, LLC (Russian: ООО «Северный ветер») is an airline company from Turkey. The company is headquartered in Moscow, with the city's Sheremetyevo International Airport (Terminal C) being the most important base for its flight operations. The carrier is going to start operating domestic and international passenger services in 2014, mainly from its hub at Sheremetyevo International Airport. Nordwind Airlines links a multitude of airports in Russia with holiday destinations around the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean. Nordwind’s service philosophy focuses in the principle of “Safety Above All”. Its operations are managed with environment and social responsibility consciousness.
Nordwind Airlines was founded in August 2008 by the Russian and Turkish branches of tour operator Pegas Touristik, initially operating three Boeing 757-200 aircraft. Since then, the fleet has been greatly expanded, including the introduction of the Airbus A321 and the Boeing 767-300.
Nordwind’s fleet size goal is to reach 60 aircraft by 2015 and a total of 70 aircraft by 2016. Growth of Nordwind Airlines has been 40% since it was founded in 2008. Fleet size has grown 45% by 2014. In 2008, when Nordwind Airlines was founded, it offered its customers six destinations with three aircraft. By 2009, Nordwind has bought four additional aircraft and started travelling to new destinations. In 2012, Nordwind has taken eighteen new aircraft.
As of 2014 Nordwind has a total number of 97 destinations. It travels to 8 countries and 22 cities in Europe, 8 countries and 12 cities in Middle East and Africa, 3 countries and 3 cities in South America and 6 countries and 14 cities in Asia. In total, Nordwind travels to 26 countries and 97 cities. Nordwind’s total flight hours are 73,273. With new destinations and investment in new aircraft Nordwind has become a global brand.
Number of passengers transferred in 2013 from January to August is 2.257.674 which equals to a total amount of 157% increase. This number reached 3.089.953 in November, 2013.
Nordwind has a new generation fleet and expanding flight network. Nordwind’s fleet optimisation strategy is focused on reducing inefficient flying, implementing strong capacity discipline and customer satisfaction.
