North Cachar Hills district

North Cachar Hills is an administrative district in the state of Assam in India. The district headquarters are located at Haflong. The district occupies an area of 4888 km² and has a population of 188,079 (as of 2001). Hindus 131,492, Christians 50,183, Muslims 4,662 (2.47%).

The population consists of diverse tribes who speak disparate languages, with Haflong Hindi as the shared dialect spoken throughout the district.[1]
