North Michigan Park is a neighborhood in Northeast Washington, D.C.. It is bordered by Gallatin Street NE to the north, South Dakota Avenue to the to west, Michigan Avenue to the south, and Eastern Avenue to the east.
The adjacent neighborhood (to the southwest), across South Dakota Avenue, is called Michigan Park. Although both neighborhoods are part of the same Advisory Neighborhood Commission, they are two separate neighborhoods. Historically, the reason for the separation was that Michigan Park was a white neighborhood in segregated Washington, while North Michigan Park was a black neighborhood.
