The Northeastern Football Alliance is an amateur-semiprofessional American football league based mostly in upstate New York. It was formerly known as the New York Amateur Football League, which split off from the Mid Continental Football League in the mid-1990s after the MCFL contracted into the midwest.
The NFA shares territory with the Empire Football League; most of the NFA's teams are in western and central New York whereas the EFL mostly covers the eastern half of the state.
As of the end of 2008, Minor League Football News has two NFA teams, the Albany Metro Mallers and Monroe County Sting, as the two best teams in all of semiprofessional football.[1]

[edit] Buffalo Gladiators
A charter NYAFL/NFA team, the Gladiators are based in Buffalo, New York and play at the Nichols School. Buffalo has had numerous homes in the team's history.

Based in Cortland, New York.
[edit] Finger Lakes Impact
Based in Waterloo, New York, the Impact entered the League in 2011 and play their home games at Tom Coughlin Stadium in Waterloo, New York.
[edit] Glove Cities Colonials
An on-an-off team representing the "Glove Cities" (Johnstown-Gloversville-Amsterdam) of the eastern Mohawk Valley.

The Chiefs are based in Jamestown, New York and play at Strider Field.

The Tigers are based in Lyndonville, New York and play their home games at Pembroke Town Park in Pembroke, New York.

The Stallions are based in Oneonta, New York and play on the campus of Hartwick College.
[edit] Southern Tier Diesel
The Southern Tier Diesel are based in Olean, New York. They joined the league in 2005 (originally representing Steuben County) and relocated to its current home, Bradner Stadium in Olean, in December 2008.[2]

Based in Odessa, New York; the Warriors joined the NFA in 2011.

Based in Troy, New York.
[edit] Utica Yarddawgs
The Yarddawgs are the fifth team to represent Oneida County in the NYAFL or NFA. Joining the League in 2012, previous teams representing the area include the former Utica Yard Dogs, Oneida County Titans, Rome Rampage, and Mohawk Valley Vikings.

The Revolution are based in Watertown, New York in 2008.
[edit] Previous teams
Historically, at least one team has represented the Rochester and Syracuse areas. The Central New York Express had been in existence since the 1980s, but disbanded and were replaced by the Syracuse Shock in 2008 and 2009; the Shock will joined the North American Football League in 2010. Meanwhile, in Rochester, the long-established Monroe County Sting were members of the league after the NYFL disbanded until leaving to the United States Football Alliance in 2010.
