Nowshera Virkan (Urdu: نوشہره وِركاں‎), is a tehsil and large town west of the industrial city of Gujranwala, Pakistan.

Nowshera Virkan lies in the Gujranwala District; under the constituency of NA-100.Nowshera is a hub of rice and wheat growing villages,and many rice and wheat mills are working here like darul ehsan rice and flour mills. Nowshera virkan has many grain markets, The area of Nowshera Virkan is populated with Muslims. Nowshera Virkan has many boys and girls schools in the area and are key places for building the next generation. Nowadays the Government degree college for women is gaining fame in female side to go forward and build the nation side by side with male. For technical education there is a vocational training institute to fill the future need and to produce the technical hands. With related to health facilities the Tehsil Head Quarter Hospital is working with adequate staff and health facilities, along this there are many Basic Health Units are working on small village level to provide the health facilities. The famous game is cricket, kabadi and football. For commercial point of view main bazar and grain market are famous places, and HBL, NBP, allied, and UBL work here. Development of the area with mega projects are Motorway interchange (cost 35 Arab),nowshera virkan to Artali road (cost 55crore),haideri chowk to alipur (15arab),girls college(25 crore)nowshera virkan to awan chowk (cost 95crore),nowshera virkan to hafizabad (cost 75crore),new tehsil office (cost 5crore),Sui gas to more than 100 villages (cost more than 50 crore),city severage and street development (more than 15 crore),clean drinking water scheme (cost 30lakhs),main bazaar development (cost 1 crore)and many other minor projects in different villages of more than 50 crores in the previous years.

• History

This town was established about centuries ago when Pathans attacked Punjab. Initially it was known as Nowshera but the presence of Virk dominance in the area and for its unique identity this become Nowshera Virkan soon after its establishment.

Many important villages lies in this Tehsil. More importantly, the villages which are producing a big amount of wheat and rice are as Douburji Virkan, Khan Musliman,Marri Bhindran,Tatlay Aali,Leel, Baddoratta, Matta Virkan, Saahoke Virkan,Ggarmula Virkan, Mattu Bhayike,Chack Choudhry, Karyal Kalaan, Chachoki, Artaali Virkan, Aabidabad, Meloo Virkan, Qasimpur, Bhangwan, Shamsa Dhadda, Bathanwala, Garianwala, Derakearwala, Bopara, Buddha Goraya etc. There is a position holder student muhammad kamran s/o muhammad ramzan from baddo ratta who secured the first position, all over the pakistan, in institute of cost and management accountants of pakistan in winter 2011 examinations. Rabeel Shoukat,another equally brilliant youngman from Leel virkan , stood 2nd in the annual examinations 2007 of Punjab University, Lahore.Now,Mr Rabeel Shoukat is serving as a Lecturer in law in Govrnment College University Faisalabad, a public secctor university of Pakistan.

Nowshera Virkan falls under NA-100 PP 101 and PP102. There are many influential politicians from this area including Haji Mudassir Nahra (PML N), Rana Bilal Ijaz (LOTA), Chaudry Tussadiq Masud ex MNA (PPP), Chaudry Khalid Pervaiz ex MPA, Irfan Basir ex MPA, in 2013 PML-N took a clean sweep in Nowshera Virkan
