The Oak Tree Breeders' Cup Mile Stakes is a Thoroughbred horse race run at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California during the annual Oak Tree Racing Association meet. A Grade II stakes raced on turf, it is open to horses age three and up willing to race one mile. It currently offers a purse of $250,000.
Part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge series, the winner of the 2008 Oak Tree Mile Stakes automatically qualifies for the Breeders' Cup Mile. [1]
Inaugurated in 1986 as the Col. F. W. Koester Handicap, the name was changed to the Oak Tree Mile Stakes in 1996.
