Ocean Avenue is a road in Santa Monica, California that starts at the residential Adelaide Drive on the north end of Santa Monica and ends at Pico Boulevard. Ocean Avenue is the westernmost street in Santa Monica, and for most of its course it runs parallel to Palisades Park, whose bluffs overlook Pacific Coast Highway and Santa Monica State Beach.
As Ocean Avenue overlooks the ocean, there are many luxury hotels such as The Fairmont Miramar, Hotel Oceana, Shutters on the Beach, Casa del Mar, The Viceroy, Hotel Shangri-La, The Georgian, The Shore Hotel, JW Marriott Le Merigot and Loews, fine dining options such as BOA Steakhouse, Ocean Avenue Seafood, Blue Plate Oysterette, Capo, Catch, One Pico, The Lobster, Cezanne, Coast, Il Fornaio, Ivy at the Shore, Ocean and Vine, Sushi Roku, The Dining Room, The Veranda, and Whist.
There are several luxury mid-rise and high rise condos with breathtaking views overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Santa Monica Beach, Malibu and the Santa Monica Mountains. Prices range from 2 million to 12 million. Third Street Promenade is two blocks to the east. At the intersection of Ocean and Colorado is the Santa Monica Pier.
Many major east-west arterial roads such as Wilshire Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard and Pico Boulevard begin their western ends on Ocean Avenue. Past Pico, Ocean turns into Neilson Way. After Neilson Way hits Venice Beach the street becomes Pacific Avenue, which ends at Washington Boulevard in Marina del Rey.
The intersection with California Avenue (the California Incline) leads to Pacific Coast Highway.
