Olympiacos Club of Fans of Piraeus, (OCFP), (Greek: Ολυμπιακός Σύνδεσμος Φιλάθλων Πειραιώς), transliterated Olympiakos Sindesmos Filathlon Pireos, is the most popular multisport club and the second most successful in Greece, based in Piraeus.

History

1925-1930

Olympiacos CFP was founded on March 10, 1925, as a football club initially, when the members of the "Piraeus Football Club" and the "Piraeus Fan Club" decided, during a historical assembly, to dissolve the two clubs in order to establish a new unified football club, with the Olympic games victor youth as their emblem. Notis Kamberos announced the name Olympiacos and Michalis Manouskos completed it to its full name, Olympiacos Club of Fans of Piraeus. The Andrianopoulos brothers, however, were those who significantly raised the reputation of the club and added glory to it. Children of a prosperous family, they made the name of Olympiacos known all over Greece. Yiannis, Dinos, Giorgos, and Vassilis were the first to play. Leonidas made his appearance later on, and played for a short time. The club's offensive line, made up of the five brothers, soon became legendary and, hence, Olympiacos is also known as Thrylos (Legend), after this classic side of the 1930s which won a hatful of titles. The Rowing Department was established in 1927 and it boasts big achievements and distinctions in the Hellenic and European Championships. The department includes rowing, canoe-kayak, kayak polo and kayak slalom. The new marine training facilities of Olympiacos in Alexandras Square have boosted the athletes of the department, who now train under excellent circumstances, that help them achieve their athletic goals.

1930-2010

The weightlifting department began its activities in 1960 and is made up of the Men's, Adolescents, Youth and Children's divisions, while five of the club's athletes are part of the Hellenic National Team. To name a few of our athletes, Christos Spyrou (7th place at the Sydney 2000 Olympics), Yorgos Vitsaras, Efthymis Vitsaras, Dionyssis Bazinas, Kimonas Stavrou. The Department participates in all three divisions of the Pan-Hellenic Championship (A, B, C).

The club is parent to a number of different competitive departments including Football (Olympiacos F.C.), Basketball (Olympiacos B.C.), Volleyball (Olympiacos S.C.), Water Polo (Olympiacos Water Polo Club), Athletics, Sailing and Swimming, amongst others, which have won numerous domestic and European titles over the club's history. Olympiacos CFP is the only Greek sports club to have managed to win five European titles, major European titles in three different team sports and The treble in two team sports. They have won the Euroleague in Basketball, two CEV Cup Winners' Cup in Volleyball, the LEN Euroleague and the European Super Cup in Water Polo. In addition to this, in the total number of Olympiacos' athletes, Olympic winners and World Champions are included.
