A total of nineteen mountains were referred to as Olympos (in Greek) or Olympus (Latin variation of the Greek Ὄλυμπος) in antiquity.[1][2] Some of these mountains are:

- Mysian Olympus (present-day Uludağ), in northwest Turkey
- Paphlagonian Olympus (present-day Mount Arıt near Bartın)[3]
- The present-day Mount Nif in Aegean Turkey, near İzmir's depending district of Kemalpaşa, a town which carried the same name as the mountain previously (Nif)[4]
- The valley and town of Olympos (Lycia) in ancient Lycia on the southern coast of Turkey, 90 km southwest of Antalya, near the town of Kemer
- Cyprus
- Mount Olympus (Cyprus), the highest point (1952 m) on the island of Cyprus
The word "Olympus" is probably pre-Greek in origin, as it has no known Indo-european etymology. It is most probably associated with tall mountain peaks, as it was used for several mountains that dominate their locale.
