The Oni-Con is an anime convention created in 2004 in Houston, Texas. This was Houston's first major anime convention and, despite being a relatively new anime convention, their list of past guests is very notable including the likes of Scott McNeil, Johnny Yong Bosch, Greg Ayres, Taliesin Jaffe, and most notably Yoshitaka Amano.
Oni-Con has been held in four different places since its creation. Oni-Con 2004 was held at the Sheraton North Houston. Oni-Con 2005 was held at the Grand Plaza Hotel, and Oni-Cons 2006, 2007 and 2008 were held at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Oni-Con 2009 was held at the Marriott, Westchase.
It occurs in the month of October except for 2008 when it was moved to December due to Hurricane Ike.
Oni-Con 2010 was held at the Westchase Mariott on October 29–31. For 2011, Oni-Con is moving to Galveston, Texas and will be held at the Galveston Island Convention Center on October 28–30.
