Ozhukarai is a city, a municipality and a taluk in Pondicherry district in the Indian territory of Pondicherry. The enclaves of Kalapet and Alankuppam are parts of Ozhukarai municipality.

As of 2001[update] India census,[1] Ozhukarai had a population of 217,623. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Ozhukarai has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 83%, and female literacy is 71%. In Ozhukarai, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
