Pöytyä (Finnish pronunciation: [ˈpøyty.æ]) is a municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Finland Proper region. The municipality has a population of 8,498 (31 January 2011)[2] and covers an area of 773.69 square kilometres (298.72 sq mi) of which 23.68 km2 (9.14 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 11.33 inhabitants per square kilometre (29.3 /sq mi).

The municipality is unilingually Finnish. The municipality has previously also been known as Pöytis in Swedish documents, but is today referred to as Pöytyä also in Swedish.[6]

The neighbouring municipality of Karinainen was merged into Pöytyä in the beginning of 2005. The neighbouring municipality of Yläne was merged into Pöytyä in the beginning of 2009.
