The Naval Engineering College (NEC) and Military College of Engineering (MCC) serve a similar purpose. The AFIAT, with NEC and MCC, are not specialized staff college or war colleges, instead the school focuses on science and technology. The school is affiliated with NED University of Engineering and Technology and contains a civilian faculty. The school is not restricted to military officers; civilians can take an admission and enlist in departmental courses offered to military personnel.
