The 22651/22652 Palani Express(Tamil: பழனி அதிவிரைவு ரயில்) is a daily express train between Chennai Central(Code:MAS) and Palani(Code:PLNI) by Southern Railways via Salem-Karur-Dindigul section. The train covers a distance of 551 km(one-way) at an average speed of 50 km/h.[1]

Locomotive[edit]

From Palani to Salem, the locomotive used is usually an Erode or GOC WDM3A diesel locomotive, due to the lack of electrification. From Salem to Chennai Central, an RMP WAP1 locomotive hauls the train.[1]
