Palm Desert Charter Middle School (PDCMS) is a charter middle school in Palm Desert, California in the Coachella Valley. It is part of the Desert Sands Unified School District and a Charter school with parental involvement in the school's administration. The school had about 1000 students in the years 2008-09. The school's mascot is Peppy the Panther. The school's first year was 1978 as a closer Junior High school for students living in the then "rural" communities of Palm Desert and La Quinta instead of going to Indio (Thomas Jefferson Middle and Woodrow Wilson Middle schools, but WMS was decommissioned). Almost all PDMS students go on to Palm Desert High School, although a few attend alternative independent studies in Summit High school.
