Parkland Magnet Middle School is a middle school currently located in Rockville, Maryland that is part of the Montgomery County Public Schools system. It is part of the MCPS Middle School Magnet Consortium, consisting of Parkland Magnet Middle School for Aerospace Technology, A. Mario Loiederman Middle School for the Creative and Performing Arts, and Argyle Magnet Middle School for Digital Design and Development. The original school building was being rebuilt and has been completed. Parkland Magnet Middle School is most known for its outstanding Aerospace Technology and Advanced Mathematics Program. Special courses offered at the school include, but are not limited to, Aerospace Design and Technology, Comparative Planetology and Orbital Mechanics, Honors Physics, and Unmanned Space Exploration. The Principal is Benjamin OuYang. Other senior staff include Monifa Bellinger (7th grade assistant principal) , Tomas Rivera-Figueroa (6th and 8th grade assistant principal) and Donna Blaney (Magnet Coordinator). The previous principal was Dr. Kevin Hobbs. President George W. Bush visited Parkland during the 2005-2006 school year. During the 2009-2010 year, Parkland expanded its music department under the direction of Steven Ragsdale. Parkland's mascot is the panther, and the school colors are red and black. They use the slogan "Fear the Panther" often, deriving from the slogan of "Fear the Turtle" in the University of Maryland.
