Paul Hoffman is a Santa Cruz-based Internet pioneer.
Hoffman has been involved with the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) since the early 1990s, is current chair of the IETF ipsecme working group, and has chaired numerous working groups in the past. He is the founder of the Internet Mail Consortium and the Virtual Private Network Consortium.
He has authored popular books on technical topics, including Perl for Dummies[1] and Netscape Communicator for Dummies.[2] Additionally, he is the author of the following RFCs:
