[edit] Early life

Paul Joseph Alessi was born and was raised in Queens, New York. He attended Lindenwood Public School 232 in Howard Beach, Queens.[3] At the age of 8, he started playing ice hockey for the Saint Rita's Rangers in Ravenswood, Queens. That same year, he took up amateur boxing. In his teens, he began boxing in the Police Athletic League (PAL). When he was 14, Alessi joined the New York firefighters, starting with their explorer program and working his way up. In his late teens, he took on several odd jobs, including employment as a security guard, zamboni driver, and construction worker.

[edit] Acting career

In 1993, while working at a construction site in Manhattan, he received a job offer to begin work as a model. He worked with several modeling agencies, including Colours Modeling & Talent Agency, Crew Men Model Management, and New York's Aqua Talent Agency.

In 1995, Alessi's acting career began with a lead role in the TLC music video, "Waterfalls", directed by F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job). Shortly afterwords, he played a role in the no budget independent film "Don't Feed The Animals", as a model named Ty. At this time, Alessi had yet to undergo any formal acting lessons.

In 2001, Alessi and his then fiancé, Amie Barsky, were contestants in the reality television show The Amazing Race.

[edit] Producing career

In 2005, Alessi began his producing career as a co-producer and actor in the film "Morphin(e)", where he co-starred with Amie Barsky. He went on to produce numerous other films, including "Ten 'til Noon", "A Guy Named Murphy", and "Knuckle Draggers".

In 2009, Alessi worked as a behind-the-scenes EPK director and DVD field producer for Sony Pictures Entertainment's "The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day", directed by Troy Duffy.

[edit] Personal life

Alessi enjoys traveling, and is working his way around the world. A few of his favorite places that he has had the pleasure of visiting are Italy, Kauai, Greece, Malta, France and Africa. He spends a lot of his time traveling between Los Angeles and New York. He is also involved with a number of non-profit organizations, including the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, Toys for Tots, Education Through Music-Los Angeles, and the Maryvale Angels.

Alessi is somewhat of a health and fitness nut, and a die-hard ice hockey and boxing fan. He still enjoys playing in adult hockey leagues and "hitting the bag" when time permits.

[edit] Awards and nominations

Alessi won 2009 Best Actor at the ReelHeART International Film Festival.[4] That same year, Alessi won the Stella Artois Rising Star Award for new filmmakers at the 2009 Delray Beach film festival for his producing and acting work in Knuckle Draggers.[5]
