Paulo César Batista dos Santos (born 24 March 1968 in Itambacuri, Minas Gerais), commonly known as Paulão is a former Brazilian footballer who played as a centre back.

Career[edit]

Paulão gained notability while playing for Cruzeiro, which led him to the national team. In 1994, he moved abroad briefly, playing for Benfica in Portugal,[1] a experience he later repeated in Chile, with Colo-Colo. In Brazil, he also represented Grémio, Vasco da Gama and Atlético Mineiro.[2]
