Pavel Pavlovich Gagarin, 1865

Pavel Pavlovich Gagarin (Russian: Павел Павлович Гагарин; 4 (15) March 1789, Moscow – 21 February (4 March) 1872, Saint Petersburg) was a Russian politician and statesman. He participated in the trial of the members of the Petrashevsky Circle, including Fyodor Dostoevsky, who were sentenced to death by firing squad, but the punishment was later commuted to penal servitude by Czar Nicholas I.
