The Pistol: The Birth of a Legend is a 1991 directed by Frank C. Schröder and is the story of Pistol Pete Maravich nicknamed "Pistol Pete", a basketball star in high school, college and the NBA known with a flashy style of play. The film focuses on 1959, the year Pete made the varsity high school team as an eighth grader.
The film is based on a book by Darrel Campbell with narration from Peter Maravich.
