Pootharekulu Pootha is ‘coating’ and Reku(plural Rekulu) is ‘sheet’ in Telugu. PoothaRekulu are also known as ‘Paper sweets’ as they give the appearance of folded paper. It is a wafer-like sweet of Andhra Pradesh. Atreyapuram, a village and mandal in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh is very famous for preparation & trading of this sweet.

It is made from rice starch/finely ground soaked black gram (minapappu),powdered sugar & Ghee (Clarified butter). There are two versions of this sweet. One using powdered sugar and the other one using Jaggery. This sweet is prepared by making wrappers from rice flour, put sugar/jaggery inside it and folding them.
