The Porsche 550 Spyder replica electric conversion is a kit car replica of a 1950s model Porsche Spyder hand assembled and converted to an battery electric vehicle by MendoMotive [1].
The base model Porsche 550 Spyder electric conversion produces 128 horsepower (96 kW) from one FB1-4001 Advanced DC 8 inch (200 mm) motor operating at 120 volts/800 amps total. This motor accelerates it from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 8 seconds and gives a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h). The range per charge is between from 40 miles (64 km) to 100 miles (160 km) and can be charged within 8 hours using 110 AC volts and 5 hours using 220 AC volts.
The price of the car (without motor) is approximately US $17,000. The conversion varies in price depending on power output. Conversion costs vary from US $16,000 and up for the 96 kW unit to US $30,000 and up for the 240+ kW racing version. [2]
