Port Jefferson Station is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 7,527 at the 2000 census and 7,838 as of the 2010 census

The area now known as Port Jefferson Station were first called by the Native American name Comsewogue. The name Echo was also used. The first resident, William Tooker, had arrived by 1750.
In 1873, the Long Island Rail Road arrived to provide service to nearby Port Jefferson, providing the town's name.
The primarily farming community began to experience suburban growth following the construction of Nesconset Highway in the mid 1950s.[1] By the early 1970s, it had become a primarily suburban community. Also the Hispanic population in this community is growing tremendously and is heavily Dominican-American.

Port Jefferson Station is located at 40°55′27″N 73°3′42″W / 40.92417°N 73.06167°W (40.924093, -73.061656)[2].
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.6 square miles (6.7 km2), all land. The train tracks mark the northern boundary of Port Jefferson Station, separating it from Port Jefferson. Route 347 (Nesconset Highway) on the south forms a boundary with Terryville.

As of the 2010 census, the population of Port Jefferson Station was 7,838. Out of those, 4,679 (60.21%) were White, 1195 (5.48%) were Black, 420 (5.36%) were Asian, 8 (0.10%) were Native American, 3 (0.04%) were Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, 538 (4.57%) were Some Other Race, and 175 (2.23%) were Two or More Races.
There were 3,158 Hispanics or Latinos of Any Race (30.77%).
As of the 2010 census, there were 2,600 households, out of which 35.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.8% were married couples living together, 10.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.5% were non-families. 20.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.87 and the average family size was 3.34.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 25.2% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 33.0% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 94.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.0 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $77,330, and the median income for a family was $93,185. Males had a median income of $60,179 versus $31,250 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $22,875. About 9.7% of families and 12.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 4.4% of those under age 18 and 5.1% of those age 65 or over.

Port Jefferson Station is primarily served by the Comsewogue School District, although a very small portion of it is covered by the Mount Sinai School District, the Three Village Central School District as well as the Middle Country Central School District. R.A. the Rugged Man a Hip-hop artist graduated from Comsewogue.
