The Shannara Portal
Shannara is a universe created by author Terry Brooks, explored through fantasy novels, a short story, and a video game. Beginning with The Sword of Shannara, published in 1977, the series of novels continues into the present with the 2008 release of The Gypsy Morph. The series is probably best known for its blend of magic and primitive technology and the fact that it is set on Earth long after the current civilization was destroyed. Shannara is not actually the name of the world itself, but instead of an Elven noble family from which many of the protagonists are descended. The primary setting of the Shannara novels is called the Four Lands.
