Selected content[edit]

What has happened to the Category:Music of Canada portal selected content? Some entries are missing and the items are no longer sorted by two digit number. Argolin (talk) 01:00, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Have no clue - perhaps someone with a bot was fixing things and it did something to the cats.Moxy (talk) 01:06, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
This content is missing: Skinny Puppy, Michel Pagliaro. These artices were added per [1] Do you have any history to re-add these entries? Argolin (talk) 04:52, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
I dont see y not -- Moxy (talk) 04:54, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
Moxy, can we go with a number format of 0000? I believe it would be best to conform to this number standard for all "Selected content" items even though some of the items within Category:Music of Canada portal selected content will never reach that number. Our project Wikipedia:WikiProject Canadian music currently has 4,840 articles. Argolin (talk) 06:46, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
Actually was going to ask you about that - you know that i had to make redirects like Portal:Music of Canada/Selected article/11 so the portal would work - as it is now i will have to do this ever time someone makes a page. The portal does not see 001 0002 etc only upto #75... we would have to make redirects for any new pages this is not user friendly at all!!!!!!!! Y are you doing this? I Pls put this backMoxy (talk) 07:03, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Moxy, I'm a little confused. The portal sees to 75, 075, or to 999? And yes creating class=Redirect for these pages is completly unacceptable. Argolin (talk) 08:21, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Ok i will try and explain better - when changing the "max=" to the new total it will see the next page in order meaning it will see 1 then 2 then 3 etc.. It wiil not see 001 or 002 etc.. It only see 001, 002, 003 etc if you redirect the pages. So if someone makes Portal:Music of Canada/Selected article/012 as you had it setup - it will not be seen or implemented unless we redirect Portal:Music of Canada/Selected article/12 to that page. The only reason we saw the pages before is because you redirected them. We dont want to have to do this ever time someone makes a new page and in reality noone will ever see the pages made to even redirect them. The order of numbers 1,2,3,etc is set by the coding at Template:Random portal component.Moxy (talk) 04:57, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Oh Moxy, I had no idea you had to come along after me to create redirects for these pages!!! I'll review the items contained in Category:Music of Canada portal selected content to conform to the standards you have outlined. All these portal 'items' must be added to our project with the creation of a discussion page {{WikiProject Canada|class=Portal|music=yes}}. At the time, if I had added all this selected content to our project we would have had a deletion log [2] and been able to restore these items now. Argolin (talk) 06:08, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
