Congratulation[edit]

Congratulation for your nice new portal. It has a nice design and interessting content. I wonder at what point of history the piano was no longer portable for one person. -- Room 608 22:57, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! I see you did the German piano portal. As for portability, I guess that ended when they started to use iron frames instead of wood. Although even an 18th-century fortepiano is probably heavier than it looks. --Morn (talk) 00:18, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
There was an anecdote, of someone walking over the street to show a friend a new tune, and carrying his spintett or what else with him, might have been still in the mid-classical period. Keep on! -- Room 608 08:34, 18 November 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Roomsixhu (talkcontribs)

Gangqin jichu jiaocheng[edit]

Dear all! I have just bought the four volumens of Gangqin jichu jiaocheng 钢琴基础教程 (a Chinese piano school) and can’t identify some composer names. What are the original names of the following composers (in Latin script or in Kyrillic):

  • 1. 布莱克 Bu-lai-ke, piece 练习曲 („Etude“), Moderato, C major, 4/4, listen I.6

*2. 克鲁基茨基 Ke-lu-ji-ci-ji (a Russian?), piece: 冬 („Winter“), Andante, e minor, 2/4, I.14 = Michail Krutizki: Winter

  • 3. 瑞林斯基 Rui-lin-si-ji (a Russian?), piece: 练习曲 („Etude“), Vivace, G major, 4/4 listen (first piece) I.27
  • 4. 列什戈尔恩 Lie-shi-ge-er-en, piece: 练习曲 („Etude“) Allegretto, C major, 2/4, listen II.50

All other composers I have found out, for example:

  • 罗伊奇汉 Luo-yi-qi-han, Stück: 跳音练习曲 listen III.101 = Albert Loeschhorn, Etude op.66 No.22
  • 斯德瑞鲍格 Si-de-rui-bao-ge, piece: 练习曲 listen („Etude“, op.64 No.9) II.96 = Jean Louis Gobbaerts alias Luis Streabbog (1835 - 1886)
  • 勃梯尼 Bo-ti-ni, piece: 练习曲 („Etüde“, op.29 No.3) III.2 listen = Henri Bertini

Lots more people would see your question if you posted at the Reference desk. -- John of Reading (talk) 07:42, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Move selected audio down a bit?[edit]

Hi, will it be fine if I move the selected audio out of the header box to under categories? It looks a bit weird at the moment with a lot of white-space in the intro box. Thanks, RainCity471 (whack!) 18:19, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

Edit for intro[edit]

How does one edit the intro? It now says that the piano's versatility and ubiquity are not portable and often expensive. BFolkman (talk) 20:52, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

@BFolkman: Most portals have an "edit" link for each box, so I've changed this one to match. -- John of Reading (talk) 21:08, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
