Postcards from No Man's Land won the 2003 Michael L. Printz Award,[2] as well as the Carnegie Medal for 1999.[3]

In 2001 it was included in a list of recommended books for teenage boys in The Guardian newspaper, where it was described as a "seriously good and compulsively readable novel that spans 50 years and two interwoven stories of love, betrayal and self-discovery".[4]

It is the fifth novel in the Dance Sequence of six novels, followed by This is All: The Pillow Book of Cordelia Kenn.
