Potti Sriramulu Chalavadi Mallikarjunarao College of Engineering & Technology is an engineering college located in the Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh, India. The college is located in the heart of Vijayawada city in vast area of land. This college is affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi.

Introduction

The college is located in the heart and commercial area of Vijayawada city and spread over 10acres of land. The academic complex comprises Faculty offices, theatre style and classic Lecture halls, an Indoor Stadium, an Auditorium, Rich Library. Laboratories include Computer Laboratories with latest configured systems, Communication Skills Laboratory, state-of-the-art Electronics Laboratory, Electrical Laboratory, IT Workshop and Electrical Workshop.

Management

PSCMRCET is a self-financing institute which is governed by a group of philanthropic personalities of the city. They formed into a society, SKPVV HINDU HIGH SCHOOLS' COMMITTEE.

SKPVV Hindu High Schools' Committee

The society was formed by a group of philanthropists from business community in and around Vijayawada in the year 1906. They contributed their might and collected donations from the like minded people and started primary school to provide education to the poor students of local area and surrounding villages, where there were no schools at that time. The society was registered with the Registrar of Krishna District in the year 1911. Later the members expanded the horizons dynamically to a multifaceted one such as adding up few more schools and colleges besides expanding memberships. The organization gave utmost prominence to professionalism outlook to its administration. The committee members regularly met and reviewed the socio-economic conditions of the town and surrounding villages and always challenged to set up educational institutions to uplift the poor and needy.

Courses Offered

The college, right from its inception in 2008, is offering the course of Graduate in Engineering in totally FOUR disciplines and from the following year, it started a Masters Course in Management. Undergraduate streams are CSE, ECE, EEE and IT. The departments of CSE and ECE have an intake of 120 each where as the remaining branches have an intake of 60 students each including MBA.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is fondly branded as Team CSE by its students. It is one of the challenging and ever-emerging branch on the face of the world.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering is one of the best and most challenging branches at PSCET. The branch was incepted in 2008 with an initial intake of 60 and rapidly raised to the potential of 120 at present.

Dept. of CSE was started with a genuine intention of imparting the peak quality of technical education to the young upcoming engineers. The Department endeavours to enable the students to identify challenging problems, perceive and offer every sort of computer based solutions. The department is committed to have enough space for industry, for creativity, efficiency, ability to meet any high walls and for flawless quality of excellence. Be it a class work, a project or a seminar; our department assures to pursiut perfection in every part of it with finesse. Laboratories of the department are of a wide spectrum and are sophisticatedly eshtablished. A significant focus is given on project implementations of the students.

The principal objectives of our dept. are to:

• Heighten technological awareness.
• Train future industry specialists.
• Provide consultancy.
• Undertake and involve students in research and development.

The department is headed by Dr. R. Chandrasekharam, Ph.D, who has acquired an ocean of expertise in this field of Computers. His 40 years of academic service is an asset to the department. Two Associate Professors and a handful of Assistant Professors follow the head in each and every aspect. Support staff of the department are to be mentioned within quotes for their services rendered. At present, the department has a Professor with Ph.D Doctorate, 5 Associate/Assistant Professors pursuing their Ph.Ds and 20 Assistant Professors with Masters Degree in various diversified Computer fields.

During the tenure, the department had produced, managed, coordinated and accomplished many of the important assignments, both technical and academic.

The student association activities are one of the best undertakings of the department. Two hours of academic curriculum is meant for these student association activities. Students of the department unleash the zeal and energy out of them and participate in these activities.

The student association for CSE was formerly known as ACCESS which is abbreviated as Achievers' Community for Computer Engineering and Scientific Study.

Research and Development

A lab of 30 systems and 2 servers with software such as Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) is established for R&D within the campus itself. The department also grabbed attention by taking up live projects for its students from the IT giant, IBM. Oracle Academy is established and negotiations for Microsoft certification center is in progress in addition with R&D establishments.

Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering

There is a continuous emphasis on the design, analysis, and application of electronics and communication structures. Laboratories are regularly updated with the latest equipments in the field. The department has the following labs housed in spacious and well designed block of area: Microprocessors & Interfacing lab, Electronic Devices and Circuits Lab, Analog and Digital Communication Lab, Power Electronics lab and the Advanced Communication lab. Encouragement and technical guidance is fives to students to take up live projects in latest technologies.

The department has Prof. A.Guruva Reddy, Ph.D as the head.

The Student Association of ECE is known as SPAECE

Present intake of the department is 120.

Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering

Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department was founded with a threefold mission in teaching, research, and public service.

The dept. is headed by Prof.Y.V.Balaramakrishnarao, (Ph.D).

VIDYUT is the Association name for EEE Dept.

The present intake of the department is 60.

Department of Information Technology

The department has been equipped with the computing facilities to support the teaching-learning process and research activities. Facilities are also available to enhance the communication skills.

The department impart comprehensive knowledge both in the theoretical and practical aspects of Information Technology in a very effective manner to the students. The focus is on the fundamentals of Computer Sciences and Information Technology.

The Student Association for IT is known as CASPAIN

The department falls under the Computer Science and Engineering Department. The intake of the department is 60.

Department of Management Studies

The Mission is to help India and other developing countries improve their managerial practices both in the private and in the public sectors, and adopt superior public policies. It seeks to do this through producing risk-taking leader-managers who will pioneer new managerial practices and set new standards; through producing teachers and researchers who will generate new ideas of National and International significance; and through purposeful consulting aimed at helping client organizations scale new heights.

Department of Science and Humanities

The Humanities and Sciences Dept comprises the disciplines English, Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry and Environmental Science.

The faculties of Basic Sciences aim at making the students proficient in the areas of Maths, Mathematical Methods, Engineering Physics and Engineering Chemistry with a thorough knowledge of which, students can easily learn their core subjects.

With the objective promoting in the students the necessary awareness of the conservation of environment, regular classes are held in Environmental Science studies.

Training & Placements

The college is registered under Jawahar Knowledge Center (JKC). Indian IT companies like Syntel etc., are about to start their hiring process in our college.

The first placements for the college is from MBA dept. Students got selected in various reputed companies like HDFC Bank etc.,

Final year students of B.Tech and MBA are well placed in some of the companies like Adithya Software Solutions, VisionTek, HCL Technologies and Muthoot Finance.

Events

The college is continuously organize various events which dig out the skill of young brains. Depts. of CSE and IT collectively organized ILLUMINATI-2K9, a National Level Technical Symposium, the first of its kind in the college on 25 September 2009. Dept. of ECE organised GENISPAR-2K9, a National Level Paper Presentation contest on 4 October 2009. Both of these events became successful in their own ways and attracted a huge attention all over the state as many students turned up even from the most prestigious institutes of the country.

From then, the management of the college decided to organize such annual fests every year with a name of Jignasa (which means the curiosity to learn). As a token of a solid kick start, Jignasa-X on December 16, 2010, became a wonderful fest with many students from all the corners of the state.

The legacy continues and this time, it's going to be J-X1 with more exciting events to put on.
