Protein-energy malnutrition refers to a form of malnutrition where there is inadequate protein intake.
Types include:[1]
Note that this may also be secondary to other conditions such as chronic renal disease [2] or cancer cachexia [3]in which protein energy wasting may occur.
Protein-energy malnutrition effects children the most because they have less protien intake.
