Protothaca staminea, or the Pacific littleneck clam, is a species of bivalve mollusc in the family Veneridae.[1] This species of mollusc was exploited by early humans in North America; for example, Chumash peoples of Central California harvested this creature from Morro Bay approximately 1000 years ago.[2]
