PruHealth is backed by two large International financial services companies - Prudential of the United Kingdom and Discovery Holdings. The latter is a leading South African private medical insurance company that pioneered rewarding people for healthy living. More recently, PruHealth acquired Standard Life Healthcare in 2010. The company announced recently that Mr Kevin Gillett will takeover Bob Watts in July as company COO.

An award-winning private medical insurance, PruHealth was recognised as the Best Individual Private Medical Insurance Provider of the Year in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 & 2012 at the Health Insurance Awards. PruHealth were Defaqto 2013 winners for Private Medial Insurance and Group PMI, and won the COVER Excellence Awards 2012 for Group PMI.

Vitality is PruHealth's healthy living programme, designed to offer members a number of discounts and rewards for making positive changes and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Olympic Heptatlete and Gold Medallist Jessica Ennis is the Vitality Ambassador.

This September, PruHealth is the title sponsor of the 2013 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final London. PruHealth is also the sponsor of The National Trust Great British Walk.
