Purch, Inc. is an American online publishing company, formerly known as TechMediaNetwork.[1] The company holds a portfolio of digital brands and services focused on making complex buying decisions easy for consumers and businesses, across an array of tech-related product and service categories.[2]

History[edit]

Purch was originally founded as TopTenREVIEWS, Inc.[3] in 2003 by Jerry Ropelato,[4] who currently serves on the board of directors. In 2009, TopTenREVIEWS, Inc. was rebranded as TechMedia Network, Inc. following the acquisition of Live Science, Space.com and Newsarama from Imaginova.[5] In 2011, TechMedia Network, Inc. acquired the print- and online-assets of LAPTOP Magazine (now, exclusively a web publication known as Laptop Mag) from Bedford Communications.[6] In July 2013, the company acquired Bestofmedia Group,[7] publisher of Tom’s Hardware, Tom’s Guide, Tom’s IT Pro and a variety of sister publications across Europe. TechMedia Network Inc. acquired BuyerZone.com, LLC[8] from Reed Business Information in early 2014, and in doing so, added a lead-generation platform to its network of media publications. On April 30, 2014, Purch announced an exclusive partnership with Mobile Nations,[9] a network of mobile-focused online communities. Purch has received funding from ABS Capital Partners, Village Ventures, and Highway 12 Ventures.[10] Greg Mason is the current CEO of Purch.
