[edit] About

In November 11, 2005,[1] after years of broadcast sign off, GMA leased the airtime of Zoe Broadcasting Network flagship station, DZOE-TV 11, in exchange of an upgrading the facilities of ZOE and airing a ZOE-TV produced programs. Channel 27 became a rebroadcast feed of QTV, Quality Television.[2]

On March 18, 2007, the Quality Television became as "Q". Focuses on women and lifestyle programming, Q rebranded from an earlier identity, Quality Television. A simplified insignia was used to complement its local programming. Q network uses the seventeenth letter of the modern Latin alphabet in stylized letter “Q” symbol in Serif font of Garamond. While the earlier symbol, QTV uses a rectangular rounded shape with sparkles plus light streaks theme at the upper left corner and a text “tv” in lower case in San Serif font complements the Q insignia. The newer version employs only the letter “Q”, designed by GMA Network (company) Program Support Department-Creative Services Division's Associate Art Director Jerking Pingol, under the supervision of Creative Director Lourdes Topacio.

[edit] Origins

[edit] ZOE Broadcasting Network

The network was formed when the frequency rights of Channel 11 in Manila was given to a joint venture of the influential religious groups El Shaddai headed by Bro. Mike Velarde and Jesus Is Lord Movement headed by Bro. Eddie Villanueva in mid 1990s.

[edit] Citynet Television

GMA Network decided to expand its business into UHF programming in 1995 with Citynet Television 27. Poised to compete with ABS-CBN's recently launched Studio 23, the new station also aired popular American programming. In 1999, Star TV leased the airtime of Citynet Television to launch Channel [V] Philippines. In 2001, however, Channel [V] Philippines was discontinued when the PLDT (owner of MTV Philippines) bought a controlling stake in GMA. Citynet reverted to being an independent station after the discontinuation.

However on March 1, 2009, Channel V Philippines is now under the new management with Makisig Network as a new network partner with STAR TV. It was successfully music channel launch last June 1, 2009. [3]

[edit] Blocktime agreement

In the first quarter of 2005, Citynet leased the airtime of ZOE's flagship station, DZOE-TV 11, in exchange of upgrading the facilities of ZOE and airing ZOE-TV produced programs on early Monday mornings. DWDB Channel 27 became a repeater of QTV. Although in some areas in Metro Manila, QTV can be seen clearer in channel 27 compared to channel 11 especially in areas like Makati and Pasay (Where UHF signals can penetrate buildings).

On March 12, 2007, the network's name became "Q".

[edit] GMA Life TV

Selected Q programs are also seen worldwide via GMA Life TV.

Some of Q's programming consists of English-language programming, and additional programming produced by GMA.
