The official name for this joystick is the Quickshot QS-121 Deluxe Joyball. The joystick is often confused with a trackball due to the similar shape, however the 'ball' is not a complete sphere, merely a large dome attached to a switching mechanism that slides forward, backward, left, and right. The Quickshot can be changed from right to left hand use via a slider switch on the side of the unit.
The Quickshot Joyball design was also used for controllers created for the Commodore 64, Atari computer line, and the Sega Master System.
