RAF Gravesend was a Fighter Airfield during the Battle of Britain[1], and was home to the following Squadrons during the Battle:
- No. 610 Squadron RAF from 26 May 1940
- No. 604 Squadron RAF from 3 July 1940
- No. 501 Squadron RAF from 25 July 1940
- No. 66 Squadron RAF from 11 September 1940
It had opened in 1932 as an airport, located to the east of the town of Gravesend, Kent. After World War II ended, it returned to civilian use, as Gravesend Airport. In 1956 the site was taken over by the town council; the large estate known as "Riverview Park" was built on its site.
