YNN Rochester is a 24-hour newscast broadcast in Rochester, New York on Time Warner Cable Channel 9 and available elsewhere on Channel 14.
The station debuted on Channel 5 in 1990 as "WGRC" (Greater Rochester Cablevision), making it by far the oldest station in Time Warner's YNN network. In 1992, the station changed to Channel 9 and labeled itself as "GRC9News". Later, after Time Warner acquired cable franchise rights to the area, it was changed to just "R News". In 2005, some of the station's operations were merged with News 10 Now, a sister station in Syracuse, New York, and Capital News 9, a sister station in Albany, New York. Like its sister stations in Albany and Buffalo, it airs on channel 9.
On August 4, 2009 at 5:00 AM, R News became YNN Rochester (YNN standing for "Your News Now"), co-branding the station with its new Buffalo sister station YNN Buffalo.
YNN Rochester, News 10 Now, YNN Buffalo and Capital News 9 also share news content with NY1, the Time Warner Cable local cable news channel in New York City.
