R News is a 24-hour newscast broadcast in Rochester, New York on Time Warner Cable Channel 9 and available elsewhere on Channel 14. The station debuted on Channel 5. In 1992, the station changed to Channel 9 and labeled itself as "GRC9News". Later it was changed to just "R News". In 2005, some of R News's operations were merged with News 10 Now, a sister station in Syracuse, New York, and Capital News 9, a sister station in Albany, New York. Like its sister stations in Albany and Buffalo, it airs on channel 9.
In Fall 2009 R News will change its name to YNN Rochester (YNN standing for "Your News Now"), co-branding the station with its new Buffalo sister station YNN Buffalo.
R News, News 10 Now, YNN Buffalo and Capital News 9 also share news content with NY1, the Time Warner Cable local cable news channel in New York City.
