[edit] History

Rain Fell Within formed in 1996 as vocalist and keyboardist Dawn Desiree, guitarist Kevin Thomas, bassist Charles Gore, guitarist William Rucker and percussionist John Brown. They released on a four-track demo called Rain Fell Within-Live '97 and in 1998, refined select songs into a studio demo called Solemn Days, which gained the attention of record labels and local venues.

In 1998, William and John departed and the three remaining members acquired percussionist Tim Miller. In 1999, Dawn, Kevin, Charles and Tim wrote and recorded what is Rain Fell Within's most famous album, Believe. They began opening for international acts with friend Jason Ian-Vaughn Eckert from Aurora Borealis performing rhythm guitar.

In 1999, they recruited guitarist Owen Davis from Garden of Shadows and signed a record contract with Dark Symphonies Records. In 2000, Dark Symphonies released the previously recorded Believe which brought new success to the band including performing on the main venue for the Milwaukee Metal Fest, New Jersey Metal Fest and New England Metal Fest along with Jennifer LeeAnna from Autumn Tears as backing vocalist. They were featured and interviewed in magazines including Metal Maniacs and aired on radio stations including K-Rock in New York.

In 2001, they entered a distribution deal with Barnes & Noble and Hellion Records for whom they re-recorded "The Only One" from Solemn Days as a bonus track to Believe. This was their only recording with Owen before his departure in 2001. The four members again performed with Jason Ian-Vaughn Eckert until recruiting guitarist Jason Aaron Wood and vocalist Laurie Ann Haus. The core quartet entered the studio and record Refuge which included some of Owen's writing, one song with Jason and a solo piece by Laurie. In 2002, Dark Symphonies released the LP Refuge.

They recruited keyboardist John Battema and began writing their fifth release as a seven member line-up. Long running conflicts grew and in 2002, Rain Fell Within disbanded. These new songs were only heard by close company and recorded on private demos. Since 2002, Rain Fell Within full-time and part-time members have collectively either formed or worked with the following projects. Dawn Desireé, Ephemeral Sun, Todesbonden, Anomalous Feather, The Soil Bleeds Black, Autumn Tears and Aurora Borealis.
